The Opportunity
As Financial Controller, you will be a senior member of the finance function, leading a team of 11 and overseeing monthly reporting, business planning, and statutory compliance. You will also partner closely with divisional and executive leadership. This strategic role is not transactional; it focuses on financial governance, FP&A, risk management, and performance improvement across a large, operationally diverse business unit.
The position is remote, with occasional travel, and offers significant exposure to UK & Ireland and international stakeholders. However if the successful candidate preferred it can be office based.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead monthly reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and long-term planning for a business unit generating over £450 million in revenue
* Ensure a strong financial control environment and full compliance with US GAAP and internal standards
* Oversee statutory accounts, internal and external audits, and tax submissions, working in collaboration with shared service centres
* Serve as deputy to the Finance Director, representing finance in cross-functional and board-level meetings
* Collaborate with operations, strategic accounts, and regional leadership to deliver insights and drive performance
* Manage and develop a team of Finance Managers and Contract Accountants
* Drive improvements in financial systems and reporting processes, including SAP and BPC
Candidate Profile
* Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with at least six years of post-qualification experience
* Experience within a large, multi-site, B2B or service-oriented organisation
* Proven track record in financial leadership, team management, and strategic reporting
* Strong understanding of controls, compliance, audit, and tax requirements
* Commercially astute with excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills
* Experience with SAP or equivalent enterprise systems is highly desirable
