Contract Type: Permanent
Working Hours: 37 hours per week
Worker Type: Hybrid Worker
Salary: Starting Salary is £31,586 (Level one) rising to £34,314 per annum (pro rata for part-time)

About The Role
As a Participation and Engagement Officer, you’ll help ensure that children, young people, and their families have a real voice in shaping the services that affect their lives. You’ll plan and deliver creative engagement activities, support inclusive participation, and work closely with partners to promote meaningful involvement. This is a hands-on role for someone passionate about empowering young people, improving services, and making a difference in the community.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant field.
Experience
* Experience working with children, young people, and families to shape services.
* Proven ability to plan and deliver engagement activities like workshops and consultations.
* Experience supporting staff on participation practices.
* Previous experience in children’s services is desirable.
Knowledge
* Understanding of participation and engagement principles.
* Awareness of safeguarding, child protection, and children’s services legislation.
* Familiarity with the diverse needs of children and families.
* Knowledge of the City Council’s strategic aims and quality assurance.
Skills & Competencies
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Strong organisational and time management abilities.
* Creative and inclusive approach to engagement.
* Confident in facilitating group activities and using digital tools.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
* Commitment to child-centred, high-quality services and continuous improvement.
* A DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity is required for this post.
