James is an outgoing, sociable young man who loves attending music events, exploring community activities, and watching his favorite TV shows. He seeks a Support Worker / Personal Assistant who can be a reliable companion, motivator, and help him foster independence and achieve his goals.
About the Role
You will support James, a 27-year-old male with a learning disability, working closely with him and his support network. The role involves promoting his well-being, developing skills, and encouraging community engagement. Support is provided during the day with two staff members and overnight with one staff member for sleep-in shifts.
Key Responsibilities
1. Daily Living Support: Assist with daily activities, meal preparation, and light household tasks.
2. Community Adventures: Accompany James on outings to shops, local events, and coffee spots in Chorley.
3. Skill Building & Independence: Support James in developing life skills to boost confidence and self-sufficiency.
4. Companionship: Build a genuine connection, providing encouragement and positivity.
5. Health & Well-being Monitoring: Ensure James's safety and happiness, and communicate with his family and care team.
6. Resilience and Reliability: Stay calm and focused under pressure, being dependable when needed.
7. Positive and Patient: Maintain a positive attitude and patience in supporting James.
8. Communication Skills: Effectively connect with James, his family, and the team.
9. Experience: Not required but a positive attitude and willingness to learn are essential.
10. Driver's License: Necessary for community outings.
