Civil Engineering Apprentice (Level 6) – Rivers (Glasgow)

We are looking for a Civil Engineering (Rivers) apprentice to join our Glasgow office. You will work towards achieving a UK Level 6 qualification at the University of Strathclyde.
Responsibilities
* Design a Sustainable Drainage System for a new development
* Assess and design options for managing flood risk and adapting to climate change
* Assess the safety of infrastructure on rivers
* Design and supervise the construction and operation of nationally important flood defence assets
* Contribute to the determination of budgets for the next five years of investment in the water industry
Qualifications
* Minimum of 120 UCAS tariff points or equivalent
* Strong interest in civil engineering and water catchment management
* Strong communication and team‑working skills
* Flexible and proactive self‑starter with a passion for developing new skills
* Ability to adapt and prioritise while juggling work and study priorities
* Enthusiasm and curiosity to apply skills to solve real‑world problems
* Empathy and listening skills to understand client requirements
* A well‑rounded person with diverse interests (e.g., bar experience, sports captaincy, volunteering)
* Permanent right to work in the UK

About the Team
The Water and Environment Business Unit advises clients on river engineering and flood risk management solutions, including flood defence structures, weirs, gates, sluices, flood storage reservoirs, natural flood management, habitat creation, hydrometric gauging facilities, and fish passes. The team works across sectors to deliver sustainable environmental solutions.
