Behaviour Mentor
Role: Provides targeted support to students who are struggling with behavior.
Key duties:
Conducting one-to-one mentoring sessions.
Developing strategies to help students manage their behavior.
Working with teachers and other professionals to support students with barriers to learning.
Building trusting relationships with students.
Required skills: Patience, empathy, ability to build rapport, and knowledge of strategies to improve student engagement and emotional well-being.
Cover Supervisor
Role: Supervises a whole class during the absence of the regular teacher.
Key duties:
Ensuring students are engaged in pre-prepared work.
Managing classroom behavior and keeping students on task.
Responding to basic student queries about the work or procedures.
Dealing with immediate problems or emergencies according to school policy.
Collecting completed work and providing feedback to the teacher.
Required skills: Strong classroom management, good communication, organization, flexibility, and the ability to act as a positive role model.
Combined role
A role titled "Cover Supervisor and Behaviour Support" would involve both sets of duties.
