Job Purpose My client is seeking an experienced Wills & Probate Executive/Paralegal to join their Private Client Department. The successful candidate will assist fee earners with the preparation of Wills, the drafting of Lasting Powers of Attorney, and the administration of estates. They will also manage their own caseload appropriate to their experience and work in accordance with the firm’s Office Manual and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Attending to clients in a professional and supportive manner
2. Producing accurate and detailed legal work to maintain high standards of service
3. Managing and maintaining Private Client files efficiently
4. Drafting legal documentation, correspondence, and attendance notes in line with effective file management procedures
5. Recording time in accordance with firm policies and assisting with the preparation of bills
6. Building, maintaining, and managing a caseload under appropriate supervision
7. Supporting fee earners with their caseloads when required
8. Carrying out reasonable instructions given by Directors, Department Heads, or Fee Earners
9. Attending department meetings and contributing to the team’s objectives
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required
10. Minimum of one year’s experience within a Private Client Department as a Paralegal or Legal Assistant
11. Strong IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Word, and Outlook
12. Ability to work within quality and case management systems (e.g., Lexcel, Tikit)
13. A proactive approach with strong initiative when dealing with clients and potential clients
14. A positive, client-focused attitude and excellent customer service skills
15. Strong team player with flexibility and adaptability
16. Ability to handle sensitive situations and challenging clients professionally and confidentially
17. Good understanding of the Private Client legal process and relevant law
18. Full driving licence and access to own vehicle
