Senior Technical Officer (STO) – Climate and Markets Regulation (Operations) (CMR) – 32221

The role involves:
* Registering and supporting operators within the UK Emissions Trading Scheme
* Assessing compliance against energy efficiency/emissions reduction regulations
* Providing advice and guidance to those we regulate
* Interpreting new guidance and regulations
* Developing internal guidance
* Training and mentoring colleagues
* Taking enforcement action to bring operators/organisations back into compliance
* Working with external stakeholders to review and improve regulation
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and be available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract additional pay and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available.
While we are working flexibly between office locations and home, occasional travel to offices will be required. Your base location will be Warrington, Sheffield or Preston. Travel/commuting to your contractual office base location is at your own expense.
Experience / Skills Required
* Excellent written and verbal communication
* Self‑motivated with strong organisational skills
* Attention to detail and accuracy
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel)
* Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with internal and external customers
* Adaptability to new systems
* Ability to prioritise workflows and be agile and innovative

* Experience of compliance and enforcement is desirable
