Purpose of Events Sous Chef
As Events Sous Chef, you'll support the Head Chef in running the daily operations of our events-focused kitchen. You'll lead a talented culinary team, deliver exceptional food for a wide variety of events, and help maintain the highest standards of quality, safety, and service. This is a hands-on, fast-paced role where your organisation, creativity, and leadership will shine.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver exceptional food across all commercial and internal events, from planning through to service.
Lead, coach, and motivate the kitchen team to ensure flawless execution and consistency.
Support menu development, event planning, stock control, and operational logistics.
Confidently oversee kitchen operations in the Head Chef's absence.
Uphold full compliance with food safety, allergen management, and health & safety standards.
Conduct stock counts, audits, and accurate daily reporting.
Maintain equipment, ordering systems, and kitchen readiness for all event requirements.
Deliver high-quality training and onboarding for permanent and temporary chefs.
What We're Looking For in our Events Sous Chef
Confident: In-depth knowledge of menus and ability to deliver a wide range of events at scale.
Detail-Focused: Highly organised, process-driven, and committed to smooth operational delivery.
Flexible: Comfortable managing multiple simultaneous events (200+ covers) and adapting to the needs of the business.
Safety-Led: A champion of best practice in food safety and HSE across the department.
Commercially Aware: Strong understanding of stock, wastage, and labour optimisation.
Curious & Ambitious: Brings new ideas, embraces growth, and wants to develop within a major long-term project.
