Job description
Our client, is seeking a dedicated Planning Officer/Senior to join their team on a contract basis. This role, involves handling cases including new conversions, changes of use, minor and small major new residential developments, and prior approvals. Hybrid working arrangements are available.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Managing development management cases such as new conversions and changes of use
2. Overseeing minor and small major new residential developments
3. Handling prior approvals efficiently and effectively
4. Presenting cases to the Committee as required, providing comprehensive and accurate information
5. Maintaining detailed records of all planning activities and decisions
6. Collaborating with other council departments and external stakeholders to facilitate project approvals
7. Ensuring compliance with relevant planning legislation and policies
8. Providing professional advice on complex planning issues
Job Requirements:
9. Experience in development management within the planning sector
10. Strong understanding of planning legislation and policy framework
11. Proven ability to manage a varied caseload efficiently
12. Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to present cases to the Committee
13. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
14. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
15. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a hybrid working environment
16. Relevant degree or professional qualification in planning or a related discipline
