Youth Support Practitioner

Lowestoft Children’s Home, Suffolk County Council – Part‑time, 22 or 18.5 hours per week. Permanent. Salary £32,887 pro rata plus unsociable hours allowance and sleep‑in duty pay.


Your Role And Responsibilities

* Provide day‑to‑day support for vulnerable children, including those with social, emotional and mental health difficulties.
* Build trusting relationships and monitor wellbeing, encouraging personal growth and independence.
* Safeguard all children from threats to their health and welfare.
* Maintain a safe and sensitive atmosphere that meets the needs of the children.
* Develop and maintain good relationships with parents, social workers, teachers and other professionals.
* Keep accurate and detailed records and communicate effectively within the home and with outside agencies.
* Assist in planning and implementing care plans and administer medication in accordance with procedures.
* Attend team meetings and supervision sessions.


You will need:

* Willingness to undertake training and update knowledge and skills.
* Full and current driving licence and personal transport, or meet mobility requirements through other reasonable means.
* Ability to work fixed shifts (7am‑6pm and 5.30pm‑11.30pm) to provide 24/7 coverage.
