About the Role:
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced composite design engineer to take ownership of a key area of composite design within the Team. Reporting to the Head of Composite Design, you'll lead a group of talented engineers to deliver performance and reliability for a significant area of the car. This role demands technical excellence, leadership, and a passion for pushing boundaries.
Key responsibilities/Duties:
* Lead a composite design group, driving innovation and continuous development for a critical car area.
* Deliver high-quality engineering solutions, managing resources and schedules to meet demanding deadlines.
* Collaborate across departments to ensure fully integrated designs that optimise car performance.
* Provide technical leadership, guiding engineers and consulting on high-level decisions.
* Ensure design quality and compliance, from modelling and drawings to validation and ERP sign-off.
* Identify performance opportunities, manage risks, and support reliability improvements throughout the product lifecycle.
* Develop your team, providing feedback, mentoring, and career growth opportunities.
Candidate Profile:
* Degree in Composite, Mechanical, or Aeronautical Engineering (2:1 or above).
* 10–15 years' F1 design experience, with a proven track record of leading major composite projects.
* Deep understanding of composite materials, manufacturing processes, and racing car design principles.
* Skilled in Catia V5/3DX; experience with FEA and hand calculations for optimised designs.
* Strong project management skills, including forecasting and planning.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills to lead your group and integrate across departments.
* High attention to detail and ability to deliver under pressure.
