Job Title: Technical Application Service Specialist
Salary: £65,385 – £72,650
Location: Edinburgh
Hours: Full-time – 35 hours per week
Working pattern: Hybrid, with at least two days per week (40%) in the Edinburgh office

What you’ll do
* Subject Matter Expertise: Act as the primary expert for resolving complex service issues and handling customer concerns.
* Training & Development: Lead training sessions to upskill team members and ensure consistent service excellence.
* Strategic Contribution: Shape service strategy and drive process improvements.
* Process Improvements: Identify and address shortcomings in business practices; lead on problem management reviews following significant incidents.
* Operational Accountability: Accept 24/7 responsibility for service availability, performance, and incident recovery to minimise impact on service.
* Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with other departments to enhance service quality and implement standard improvement methodologies.
* Critical Thinking: Analyze multiple data sources to identify problems and generate practical ideas.
* SRE and Service Engineering: Apply software and automation to balance feature releases with system stability and reliability.
* Technical Operations: Monitor, troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve technical issues across technology products guided by policies and procedures.
What you’ll need
* SRE & Service Engineering: Advanced knowledge of software and automation tools; ability to coach others and identify automation opportunities in service transformation.
* Technical Operations: Ability to investigate issues using scripts/tools and escalate as needed; coach others based on experience.
* Critical Thinking: Objective information interpretation and idea generation to support judgments and solutions.
