About the Job
We are looking for a Senior Support Worker to join our team at Hammonds. This role provides outcome-based care, promoting independence and aiming to enable every person to be engaged in their local community to the best of their ability.
Salary: £32,597 to £35,412 full time equivalent
Working Pattern: Part time, 35.15 hrs per week
Senior Support Workers would be expected to pick up duty shifts (24 hours, 14:00-14:00), managing the service out of hours including sleep in duty

About Hammonds
Hammonds is a registered, purpose-built residential care home based in the local community of Aldwick. The in-house club hosts activities such as bingo, karaoke, and music and dance sessions. The team supports people to plan and participate in holidays, days out, and activities that are important to them, promoting a life beyond walls. The service also offers weekday and weekend short-stay breaks in a purpose-built lodge with fully accessible en-suite rooms and a communal lounge and wheelchair-accessible kitchen.
About You
As a Senior Support Worker you will be confident managing people and situations, using your initiative, and deputising for the manager in the absence. The out-of-office hours manager is contactable for emergencies only.

Key Skills

1. Excellent literacy and numeracy skills in order to monitor budgets and document activities in care plans.
2. Ability to organise / prioritise work, coordinate a variety of tasks in a clear and logical way and meet agreed deadlines which minimise disruption to the business.
3. Sound communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with a range of people and create effective working relationships. Build relationships with people and ensure the views of service users are heard and their needs are met.
4. Effective people and performance management skills with the ability to provide direction and motivate and inspire the team.
5. Excellent customer service skills and the ability to seek and introduce continuous improvement and innovation for self and team. Maintain a sympathetic and understanding attitude while dealing with challenging behaviour from service users and/or their families.
6. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate problems and resolve issues independently, planning solutions and making sound pragmatic decisions.
Qualifications and Experience
* Minimum of 4 GCSEs, including English Language and Maths, or equivalent qualification or demonstrable equivalent comparable experience.
* NVQ 3 in Care or equivalent qualification or demonstrable equivalent comparable experience.
* NVQ 4 in Management or equivalent qualification (Desirable).
* Knowledge of systems, procedures and policies in specialist areas (e.g., protection of vulnerable adults, health and safety).
* Knowledge of a wide range of disability issues and the needs of older people.
* Significant experience of working with adults who have a wide range of disabilities.
* Experience of involving service users and carers in planning, developing and evaluating services.
* Experience of working with people from diverse cultural, religious and ethnic backgrounds.
