Knowledge and Skills
1. Able to incorporate and adapt if necessary, the philosophy to meet the client and design team objectives.
2. Understand a project from a holistic viewpoint. Be able to interpret the space, function, and client requirements into a lighting design from conception to completion.
3. Understand the technical terms used for various project types and communicate these effectively both verbally and in written form within design documentation.
4. Possess comprehensive working knowledge and application of lighting codes, regulations, and guidelines. Understand their impact on the lighting design process. Ability to take accurate light measurements using a Light Meter and interpret the outputs correctly. Have a full understanding of wiring.
Technical Execution
1. Communicate with and lead the project team in developing the concept into the technical design stages, interpreting the concept into a technically achievable design with clarity and consistency.
2. Design and detail custom or bespoke light fittings, ensuring consistency and coordination throughout the project.
3. Have full knowledge of all control systems available, including technical parameters for correct selection and detailed specification.
4. Identify the lighting equipment required to meet project design and technical objectives.
5. Review, revise, and manipulate the design during Value Engineering exercises to preserve scheme integrity within budget constraints.
6. Understand various codes, standards, and legislative requirements relevant to projects and their impact on client objectives.
7. Be capable of commissioning large projects (e.g., Yacht, Hotel) independently to achieve the intended design, including negotiating additional scope and fees with clients.
8. Manage and plan project programs for multiple projects, ensuring realistic and achievable timelines and resources.
Project Management
1. Negotiate client authorization for additional scope and fees independently before starting work.
2. Plan and manage several projects concerning fee proposals and invoicing schedules.
3. Develop and maintain efficient filing systems company-wide.
4. Manage luminaire samples from suppliers using the sample library system, ensuring its content and upkeep.
5. Provide effective solutions and manage issues arising during project execution.
