Overview
Company: An industry-leading engineering firm is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Mechanical Designer to join its Engineering Design team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for AutoCAD, mechanical systems, and delivering high-quality design solutions across complex industrial projects.
Key Responsibilities
* Produce detailed design documents from engineering sketches, marked-up drawings, and vendor-provided specifications.
* Follow established AutoCAD drafting standards and reuse drawing formats and reference designs from past projects.
* Develop structural design documentation for process and modular systems.
* Maintain drawing files and assist with preparation of bid packages.
* Use office equipment (e.g., plotters, copiers) and complete technical documentation with accuracy.
* Work independently and check basic drawings from other designers/drafters.
* Travel (domestically or internationally) for site visits and coordination up to 30-40% of the time.
Ideal Candidate Will Have
* Associate’s degree in Computer-Aided Drafting (required).
* 5+ years of drafting/design experience (strongly preferred).
* Advanced AutoCAD skills; knowledge of AutoCAD Inventor and/or SolidWorks is a plus.
* Familiarity with piping, structural, conveyance, and process manufacturing equipment.
* Strong ability to interpret engineering sketches and translate them into complex design documentation.
* Time management and problem-solving skills to deliver projects on time and within budget.
* Hands-on mechanical aptitude and practical experience.
* Willingness to visit fabrication sites to assist with coordination and logistics (e.g., tagging and shipping materials).
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and related software.
