Scope
This is a great opportunity, joining our existing project teams working and supporting our Landing Gear work packages. You will work with a consultative approach while building strong relationships with our customers as a team, communicating with stakeholders at a variety of seniority levels and provide a high standard of System Engineering.
All our consultants are adaptable and open to work across multiple sectors while being part of the team here at Akkodis.
Responsibilities
* Work on braking functions including autobrake, manual braking, antiskid protection, e‑Taxi, and park brake.
* Support steering and control functions such as tyre pressure indication, RTO, towing key logic, brake temperature sensing, and selector valves.
* Lead equipment development from requirements definition (PTS) and V&V planning through to EASA certification and CEIS.
* Support aircraft steering systems, including nose‑wheel steering, to ensure precise ground manoeuvring.
* Integrate sensors (wheel speed, position, etc.) to enable real‑time braking and steering control.
* Conduct system testing, validation, and compliance checks to ensure safety and reliability.
* Develop fault detection and diagnostic logic to enhance system robustness.
* Maintain clear documentation for system designs, control logic, and validation processes.
* Use modelling and simulation tools to analyse and optimise braking and steering performance.
Required skills
* Basic awareness of Aircraft System Qualification & Certification.
* Systems engineering experience; particularly involving Requirements Management (DOORS), Integration, Verification & Validation.
* Proficiency in Hydraulic & Mechanical systems for braking & steering control.
* Knowledge of communication means (Can Bus, ARINC 429, ARINC 666, Analog & Discrete signals.)
Required experience
* Experience in writing technical specifications both at equipment & systems level.
* Aerospace (Landing Gear Systems) environment background.
* Proficiency in Hydraulic & Mechanical systems for braking & steering control.
* Understanding of control theory and the dynamics of aircraft brake systems.
* Knowledge of various aircraft steering mechanisms, including Nose Wheel Steering and differential braking.
* Experience with A/C manuals (AMM, IPC, CMM, etc.)
* Experience in the use of one or more of the following would be advantageous: Catia V5, MSC ADAMS, MATLAB, Simulink or IBM DOORS.
Required education
Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
