Our growing UK Policy Planners team works on high‑profile projects shaping the future of places, from local plan reform to masterplanning and strategic masterplans for new towns.
Is this role right for you?
We are seeking Principal‑level Policy Planners with a background in cities, planning policy, strategic planning, governance and delivery vehicles.
Responsibilities
As a Principal Policy Planner, you will manage assignments for a mix of public and private sector clients, working with consultants across Arup’s disciplines. You will build and manage client relationships with government departments, local authorities, developers and infrastructure operators, and help grow the town planning business through strategic opportunity identification, new contract acquisition and senior relationship management.
Qualifications
* Degree in town planning or a related field such as geography, and membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI).
* Strong knowledge of planning legislation and policy.
* Ability to prepare policy documents and advise clients on policy issues at all levels, from national to local.
* Experience attending client meetings and contributing to the development of a town planning business.
* Excellent communication skills, including concise writing, effective presentation and client relationship management.
* Commercial and financial management skills applicable to profitable project delivery.
