Role Overview
The Environment Agency is looking for a MEICA Advisor – Mechanical Engineer – 32348 to join our South East MEICA team. This position provides technical leadership for the planning and delivery of maintenance and replacement of assets across flood risk pumping stations and water control structures, ensuring high standards of safety, quality and regulatory compliance in the face of climate change.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide strong technical leadership and ensure adherence to design standards and best practice.
* Monitor quality of engineering work and advise on specialist MEICA technical, safety, legal, environmental, and operational requirements across diverse geographic areas.
* Lead and support the team in response to flood incidents and operational activities.
* Liaise with business partners, contractors and stakeholders, and lead actions on behalf of the MEICA Team Leader and Operations Managers.
Qualifications & Experience
* Comprehensive knowledge of engineering statutory legislation, British and European standards.
* Proven experience leading safety investigations and disseminating learning for engineering and behavioural safety.
* Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis, reliability engineering, process improvement and experience of technical leadership, writing and reviewing technical specifications.
* Qualified to at least an HNC/D or degree in a relevant Mechanical discipline; a Level 4 qualification with I‑Eng (or C‑Eng) professional registration is desirable.
* Full UK driving licence.
Additional Information
Based at any of the listed locations with occasional hybrid homeworking and visits to alternative sites. Interviews are typically face‑to‑face; video interviews may be arranged if required. All staff must undertake incident response training and may be called upon to assist when incidents occur.
