About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Management Accountant to join our Finance team. Reporting to the Financial Controller, this role will be responsible for supporting the delivery of accurate and timely financial reporting, managing the credit control function, and overseeing the work of Accounts Assistants.
The successful candidate will combine strong technical accounting knowledge with excellent people management skills. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both hands-on accounting and developing team capability, whilst driving improvements to processes and systems.
This is a full-time role, working Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm, with a hybrid working pattern of 3 days in the office and 2 days working remotely.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
* Support the Financial Controller with the preparation of monthly management accounts.
* Assist with audits, liaising with external auditors and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
* Supervise and mentor Accounts Assistants, ensuring transactional tasks (purchase ledger, sales ledger, reconciliations, etc.) are completed accurately and on time.
* Manage the credit control function, supporting debtor management and timely collection of outstanding balances.
* Identify and implement process and system improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
* Contribute to month-end and year-end closing processes.
* Ensure compliance with financial policies, procedures, and internal controls.
* Provide financial support and insight to other areas of the business.
* Assist with ad hoc projects as required by the Finance Team and wider organisation.
What We're Looking For
* Part-qualified or fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or equivalent experience.
* Previous experience in a management accounting role, with strong knowledge of FRS102.
* Experience managing or supervising a small finance team.
* Strong technical skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software packages.
* Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
* A proactive team player with strong communication skills and a collaborative approach.
Salary and Benefits
* Salary: £40,000 – £50,000 per annum (depending on experience).
* Full-time role, Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm.
* Hybrid working (3 days in the office, 2 days remote).
