We’re looking for an Assessor to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis (37 hours per week). This is a primarily remote role, with occasional, pre-planned travel within the UK.

Total People are a specialist training provider delivering professional HR qualifications accredited by the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development at Levels 3, 5 and 7. Our learners are working professionals balancing study alongside full-time roles, so high-quality, flexible support is central to what we do.

This role focuses on assessment, feedback, and learner support. You’ll use your HR knowledge to evaluate assignments, guide learners, and help maintain the quality and credibility of our qualifications.

Whether you’re early in your career, transitioning into education, or already experienced in teaching or assessment, we welcome applications from candidates with a strong interest in developing others.

What you’ll be doing

* Mark and assess HR-related assignments using clear, standardised criteria
* Provide timely, constructive, and actionable feedback to support learner progress
* Support learners through 1:1 tutorials (phone/video), email, and our online learning platform
* Monitor learner engagement and follow up where submissions are missed or require resubmission
* Ensure consistency, fairness, and accuracy across all marking activity
* Maintain accurate assessment records and meet agreed turnaround times
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to resolve assessment queries and maintain quality standards
* Contribute to ongoing quality assurance processes and continuous improvement

What we’re looking for

Essential:

* Strong written communication skills, with the ability to give clear and developmental feedback
* Good working knowledge of HR principles and practices
* A Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development qualification, or willingness to work towards one (support available—please ask at interview)
* Understanding of the demands of part-time study alongside employment
* Commitment to continuing professional development

Desirable:

* Experience marking assessments or providing structured feedback
* Teaching, tutoring, or coaching experience
* Relevant degree (HR, Business, Education, or similar)
* Assessor or internal quality assurance qualifications

What you can expect in the role

* A structured caseload of learners (details discussed at interview)
* Clear expectations around marking turnaround times and performance standards
* A mix of independent work (marking, feedback) and learner interaction
* Ongoing support and development as you build your assessment skills

Role Responsibilities

Please see the attached role profile for a full overview of role responsibilities.

Benefits:

* 34 days annual leave inclusive of bank holidays, plus birthday day off
* Autoenrolment to a workplace pension scheme
* Retail Discounts
* Employee Assistance Program

Safeguarding

The LTE Group is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. All applicants will be required to undergo an appropriate DBS check via the Criminal Records Bureau and may be subject to additional online checks as part of our pre-screening process. Some roles are exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and would require an Enhanced DBS check.

Equal Opportunities Statement

Total People is an equal opportunities employer. Applicants must demonstrate in their application their ability to meet the key responsibilities, key result areas and Qualifications/Skills and Experience detailed within the job description.
