Job responsibilities Participation in nutrition ward rounds. Provide clinical checking activities for electronically prescribed chemotherapy prescriptions on an ad hoc basis. To provide clinical support to colleagues, medical and nursing staff as a member of the multidisciplinary nutrition team ensuring appropriate provision of parenteral/enteral nutrition to inpatients and home parenteral nutrition patients, ensuring compliance with National guidelines and best practice within parenteral nutrition. To help implement national guidelines regarding TPN within the Trust. To participate in TPN contract and tendering activities within the PPSA group. To network with other nutrition experts in the region and identify areas of best practice that could be adopted by our Trust. To contribute to Quality Management activities within PTSU i.e., worksheet and SOP development and training. To help provide professional supervisory activities within Technical Services. To release medicines prepared under both Section 10 and licensed status, including radiopharmacy, aseptic, cytotoxic, and non-sterile medicines. To gain production release status for licensed areas within PTSU i.e., radiopharmacy and non-sterile manufacturing (NSM). To provide pharmaceutical advice on safe, economical, and effective use of medicines to nursing staff, medical staff, and patients. To be a member of the senior team within Technical Services and attend and contribute to meetings both internal and external to the Pharmacy Department. If required, to train as an independent prescriber for TPN. To provide and interpret financial and medicine usage data to service users. Advise the Chief Pharmacist and the Trust of any introduced or amended guidelines, policies or standards that may impact on the delivery of nutrition services. To contribute to induction and training of technical services staff, rotational staff and other Trust staff in areas of expertise. To prepare SOPs, worksheets, and stability data documents as part of the quality management system. To conduct and assist in audit processes, including Section 10 QAAPS and MHRA licensed inspections. To be responsible for own personal development, and undertake and record appropriate CPD. Assisting with the management of clinical trials To participate in audit and quality improvement projects related to Technical Services activities. To provide training for Pharmacy and other healthcare staff via lectures, workshops, and tutorials. To participate in an on-call rota, weekend, and Bank Holiday working rota for Technical Services. To manage and support the specialist Technician in the nutritional support role. Will participate in departmental Individual Performance Review and mentor process. Will maintain exceptional time management, workflow, prioritisation, and delegation capabilities.
