Role Overview
Your main responsibility will be to develop and advance the Hazardous Waste (HW) regulatory reform associated with the Waste Tracking Service (WTS). This is an exciting role that will make a significant difference!
The Hazardous Waste Regulatory Reform Project Lead will play a key role in navigating complex regulatory landscapes, implementing reforms, and ensuring the successful completion of the project. Your expertise will be vital in the effective implementation of these reforms.
Key Responsibilities
1. Coordinate and gather input from EA HW teams regarding regulatory and policy requirements of the regime.
2. Provide technical input to the EA Waste Tracking team.
3. Advise the Defra digital team on the development and design of the Waste Tracking Service, using your technical expertise to meet business needs.
4. Offer technical insights and feedback during Defra Policy discussions to incorporate regulatory requirements into the Waste Tracking Service.
5. Engage with devolved nations concerning Waste Tracking Service requirements.
Additionally, you will:
1. Provide leadership on future Hazardous Waste charging proposals and consultations, advising on technical aspects and links to waste tracking.
2. Support wider regulatory reforms related to Hazardous Waste Regulations.
3. Contribute to the wider Hazardous Waste team, supporting broader team objectives.
The Team
The Environment & Business (E&B) Hazardous Waste team is a small, high-performing group within the Regime Regulation team of E&B Waste Regulation. We lead efforts on hazardous waste, supporting government, industry, and colleagues to ensure proper waste management. We promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive culture where everyone feels valued. We utilize evidence, expertise, engagement, and innovation to support policy development, legislation, and resource allocation.
