Overview
Ophthalmic Photography Technician role within Ophthalmology to provide a comprehensive diagnostic ophthalmic photography service to patients served by the Trust.
The successful candidate will undertake a wide range of duties with respect to ophthalmic photography for the ophthalmology department, in accordance with the needs of the Trust.
Responsibilities
* Deliver an efficient, professional, skilled and broad range of technical services for the ophthalmology department using a wide range of equipment.
* Manage your own workload of patients and maintain associated records; mentor junior staff where required.
* Attend additional training when required and maintain CPD.
* Photograph patients for glaucoma monitoring within agreed timescales to specific Consultants.
* Work autonomously (following completion of competencies) and be responsible for completing your own caseload within the required timescale.
* Explain to patients the specialist procedures they are undertaking.
* Perform colour fundus macula photography using specialist equipment.
* Perform optical coherence photography of patients using an Optical Coherence Tomography camera.
* Perform digital Fundus Auto Fluorescence Macula Photography of patients retinal using specialist imaging equipment.

Organisation and location
The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services to West Cheshire and Welsh patients covered by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. The Trust works collaboratively within the wider Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership. Its services are provided from three locations: The Countess of Chester Hospital; Ellesmere Port Hospital; Tarporley War Memorial Hospital.

Recruitment and eligibility
Recruitment selection processes are based on competence and values. Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs will be deducted from their salary over the first three months of employment. You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. A small annual fee applies.
