The Role
As a Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll form an integral part of our Aviation Engineering Centre (AEC) and its multi-discipline engineering team that delivers solutions to meet customer’s needs.
Day-to-day, you’ll play a pivotal part in the development of engineering solutions that are typically aircraft modifications and aircraft system developments. This is a key role within the AEC, that brings manufacturing expertise to the respective engineering team ensuring the solution designs are manufacturable, on time and within budget.
This role heavily influences the design from concept, working in collaboration with design, analysis, manufacturing, supply chain and integration. The Manufacturing Engineer leads the bringing to reality theoretical concepts by virtue of rapidly prototyping for evaluation.
Your responsibilities will include:
1. As an integral part of the AEC solution delivery team, lead the manufacturing interests ensuring the design concept and ultimate solution is produceable on time and on budget
2. Lead, on behalf of the delivery team, the manufacture and assembly of prototype for functional, static, dynamic, or flight test evaluations
3. High levels of engagement are essential with the Solution Team, Project Managers, Project Engineers, and Team Members to understand and translate requirements into actionable solutions
4. Support a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the delivery teams
5. Act as or work with Technical Leads to ensure the project technical outcomes meet the project & business needs
6. Support the validation process undertaking inspections as necessary supporting the generation of Form 1’s or CofC’s for the dedicated teams manufactured outputs
Essential experience of the Manufacturing Engineer:
7. Demonstratable experienced of Manufacturing Engineering throughout the engineering lifecycle to deliver solutions within the aviation domain
8. Demonstrable engineering skills, with the potential be assigned as a Production Form 1 signature domain.
9. Demonstrable experienced working as team player to develop Engineering
10. Solutions to meet defined requirements, on time and on budget
11. Experienced in traditional and advanced manufacturing techniques, with the ability to be hands-on manufacturing with domain of experience
Essential qualifications for the Manufacturing Engineer:
12. Relevant manufacturing qualification, apprenticeship and experience

This role is 37 hours per week based at our Boscombe Down site with a minimum average site attendance of four days per week.
13. Set working times are: Monday – Friday 8.30am – 4.30pm

MOD Boscombe Down is a unique operational site featuring the longest military runway in the UK. Primarily focusing on providing testing, evaluation and support services for aviation and aerospace systems. Renowned for its extensive flight testing capabilities the site plays a vital role in the UK’s aviation defence contributing to the development, testing and airworthiness of military aircraft enhancing operational readiness and effectiveness.
