About the Scottish Tech Army
The Scottish Tech Army is a not-for-profit organisation that brings together skilled volunteers with expertise in digital technology to support charities and other non-profit organisations. Our mission is to help the third sector harness technology to improve their effectiveness, reach, and impact. Since launching in 2020, we’ve supported over 400 organisations and engaged a growing community of over 3,500 volunteers with a wide range of skills—from data science and software development to marketing and cloud infrastructure.
We also run the Tech for Good Alliance, a UK-Wide initiative that partners with companies to create meaningful volunteering opportunities for their staff through impactful digital projects.
About the Role
We are looking for a Projects and Programmes Manager to help lead the delivery of our technology-focused volunteer projects. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, this role is ideal for someone with 3–5 years’ experience in project or programme management, ideally in the tech, social impact, or volunteer engagement space.
As part of the Programme Management team, you’ll be responsible for coordinating projects from initial scoping through to delivery, engaging both individual volunteers and partner companies. Your work will directly contribute to helping non-profit organisations across the UK improve their digital capabilities.
This role is perfect for someone who wants to grow their leadership and delivery skills while working at the intersection of technology and social good, joining a small, passionate and committed team.
Key Responsibilities
Project Coordination & Delivery
* Manage the intake of project requests from charities and non-profits.
* Help shape project scopes and define volunteer needs.
* Match volunteers to projects based on skills and availability.
* Monitor project progress, assist in resolving issues, ensure smooth delivery.
* Engage with new and existing volunteers to help them find suitable opportunities.
* Assess volunteer experience and skillsets for project suitability.
* Maintain regular communication with project teams to support delivery and morale.
* Assist with preparing project briefs for corporate volunteering opportunities.
* Coordinate delivery with partner companies from the Tech for Good Alliance.
* Support relationship management with corporate teams and stakeholders.
Tracking & Reporting
* Maintain accurate records of projects, participants, and outcomes.
* Gather and report on data around project impact and volunteer engagement.
Who We're Looking For
Essential Experience & Skills:
* 3–5 years’ experience in project or programme management, ideally in a tech, social impact, or consultancy environment.
* Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies (e.g. Jira, Notion, Slack, etc.).
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work with a wide range of stakeholders including volunteers, non-profits, and companies.
* Highly organised and able to manage multiple concurrent projects.
* Background or familiarity with digital/technology projects (e.g. web development, data analysis, digital transformation).
* Experience working with or volunteering in the non-profit/charity sector.
