Role We're looking for a proactive and versatile Assistant Accountant to join the finance team based in North Manchester. This role is ideal for an accountant with a solid grounding in both transactional processes and month end duties, who enjoys rolling up their sleeves and contributing across a broad finance function. You'll be responsible for bank reconciliations, posting journals, analysing nominal accounts, and supporting with balance sheet reconciliations - bringing accuracy and consistency to month-end reporting. While purchase and sales ledger exposure is important, we're looking for someone who also understands the bigger picture and can confidently support core accounting processes beyond the transactional level. Key Responsibilities Carry out bank reconciliations and post entries to the cash book Manage and reconcile employee expense claims Assist in preparing and posting month-end journals Review and analyse nominal ledger accounts as part of the month-end close Complete balance sheet reconciliations Process supplier payments and handle ad-hoc payment requests Provide backup support to the purchase ledger function when required Contribute to ad-hoc finance tasks and provide support across the wider team What we're looking for: Relevant experience, ideally as an all-round assistant accountant Strong excel skills - candidates must possess a minimum of vlookup and pivot table experience (i.e. be able to set these up and edit them unaided when required).
