Training and Education: HCPC Registration. Knowledge of the legislative framework for SALTs.

Main Roles and Responsibilities
* Work as part of the multi-disciplinary team to provide comprehensive speech and language therapy services in various settings including clinics, schools, and children’s centres.
* Manage a caseload of individuals (usually aged 0-25) with diverse needs and disabilities, including neurological, coordination, sensory processing, and behavioral issues, maintaining clinical records.
* Participate in creating product lines and services such as training, therapy programs, and professional development.
1. Clinical – Assessment and Treatment Planning
* Prioritize and manage a caseload, conduct assessments, and develop treatment plans tailored to individual needs.
* Perform assessments using advanced clinical reasoning and knowledge of child development.
* Develop and evaluate treatment programs, adjusting as needed, and discharge when appropriate.
2. Clinical – Interventions and Treatments
* Plan and implement child-centered interventions, monitor effectiveness, and adapt as necessary.
3. Clinical – Analytical / Judgmental Skills
* Interpret assessment results, contribute to diagnoses, and set OT goals within care plans.
4. Clinical – Communication
* Support and advise parents, carers, and schools; communicate effectively with all stakeholders; attend and organize meetings; maintain accurate records.
5. Human resources, including personnel and people development
* Adhere to professional codes, participate in supervision and appraisal, and provide training and leadership within the team.
6. Health, safety, and security
* Maintain a safe environment, conduct risk assessments, manage equipment, and ensure safe use of therapy tools.
7. Policy and Service Improvement/Development
* Contribute to policy development, clinical audits, and service improvements.
