Are you passionate about supporting children with social, emotional, and behavioural needs ? We're looking for a dedicated Behaviour and Pastoral Mentor to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Chichester, working closely with pupils who require additional support to thrive in the classroom.
About the School:
This inclusive and nurturing primary school supports children with a range of needs including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and emotional and behavioural challenges. The school is committed to creating a safe, supportive environment where every child can succeed.
The Role:
As a Behaviour and Pastoral Mentor, you'll provide 1:1 and small group support, helping pupils develop emotional regulation, resilience, and positive behaviour strategies. You'll work closely with teaching staff, families, and external professionals to ensure consistent and compassionate care.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support pupils with behavioural and emotional needs through tailored interventions
* Implement and monitor behaviour support plans
* Use positive behaviour strategies to de-escalate challenging situations
* Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils
* Collaborate with staff, parents, and external agencies
* Maintain accurate records and contribute to pupil progress reviews
What We're Looking For:
* Experience working with children with SEN and behavioural needs
* Understanding of trauma-informed practice and behaviour management strategies
* Calm, empathetic, and resilient approach
* Strong communication and teamwork skills
* Relevant training or qualifications in behaviour support, youth work, or pastoral care (desirable)
