Are you passionate about helping learners build confidence and achieve success in maths? We're looking for a committed, creative, and enthusiastic Maths Outreach Tutor to join our ESW team at HMP Parc. In this role, you will plan and deliver engaging Essential Skills Wales maths sessions, provide targeted outreach support to learners across the prison, assess starting points and progress, adapt teaching to meet individual needs, and motivate learners to develop the numeracy skills they need for everyday life, further learning, and future employment. We have a great opportunity available to join Novus Gower, our prison education provider at HMP Parc, working as an Essential Skills Wales Outreach Tutor in Maths. This role is offered on a permanent, full-time basis, working 40 hours per week. Who are Novus Gower? At Novus Gower, we work with passion, care, and commitment to create the foundations for change. We have been supporting men, women and children of all ages and abilities within prison educational settings across England and Wales for decades. We operate numerous hubs across the United Kingdom, where our specialist teams are on hand to support Adults and Children to improve their employability prospects post-release. Site Information HMP Parc Prison is a Category B men's prison located in Bridgend, Wales. The prison accommodates individuals who have been convicted of various offenses requiring secure custody and rehabilitation. The prisons aim is to create an environment in which staff and prisoners feel safe at all times. The prison's mission is to provide a secure, safe, and rehabilitative environment that encourages positive change and prepares inmates for a successful reintegration into society. Role Responsibilities You'll support learners and colleagues alike to ensure the best outcome for all who work within our sector. Please see the attached role profile for an overview of general role responsibilities. Specific details pertaining to the role are shared during the interview process. Skills, Qualifications and Experience To be successful in this role, you will need to: Hold a teaching qualification and, where applicable, a relevant subject specialist qualification - with a commitment to obtain the outstanding qualification within 12 months Hold a Level 2 qualification in Literacy and Numeracy Have experience of creating stimulating, vibrant environments which are conducive to learning and motivational for learners Have experience of achieving of quality targets Have experience of producing accurate and timely reports Demonstrate effective interpersonal and communication skills Demonstrate an ability to motivate and enthuse learners Have excellent organisational skills to prioritise workload, and meet deadlines and targets Commit to positive teamworking Benefits 33 days annual leave, inclusive of bank holidays Significant Pension contributions (Aviva Auto-enrolment Pension Scheme) Retail Discounts Employee Assistance Program Cycle to Work Scheme Safeguarding Novus Gower is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
