Main duties of the job
As a participant on the band 5 Occupational Therapy rotation scheme, postholders will rotate every 6 months through a variety of community services. These services work across the borough of Bromley providing assessment to intervention to residents living in their own homes and care homes, as well as those admitted to the inpatient rehabilitation unit.
You will be expected to:
* Contribute to the clinical delivery of the service, including completing patient assessments, designing care and rehabilitation programmes, delivering rehabilitation and effective discharge planning.
* Work in partnership with acute care and social care.
* Contribute to the development of support staff within the service through training and supervision.
* Contribute to the implementation and monitoring of patient pathways.
* Maintain and develop your own professional expertise as a clinician.
* Actively ensure adherence to clinical governance, policies, procedures, and professional standards (e.g., Royal College of Occupational Therapists).

Job responsibilities

To carry out assessments as an autonomous practitioner, using clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice to develop care plans and treatments.
To design patient care and rehabilitation programmes based on assessment findings, to be implemented by the multidisciplinary team.
To maximize individuals' functional ability and occupational performance by developing realistic treatment goals and plans, considering patient prognosis.
To delegate tasks effectively to Therapy/Rehab assistants.
To ensure patient privacy and dignity at all times.
To reassess patients to modify care plans as needed.
To respect patients' beliefs, values, and cultural needs.
To motivate and engage patients and their families/carers in rehabilitation.
To participate in education of staff, patients, and carers.
To consider carers' needs and involve them in care goals.
To collect outcome measures as required.
To adhere to clinical governance standards and maintain records in line with legal requirements.
To manage risk within caseloads, completing risk assessments and complying with guidelines.
To conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments and interventions suitable for the caseload.

Qualifications
* Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
* Post-Graduate MSc in relevant field
Registration
* HCPC registration
* Member of RCOT
Information Technology
* Knowledge of iRIS5
Training
* Evidence of CPD
Experience
* Experience in diverse clinical settings, as a practitioner or student
* Experience working within the NHS as an assistant or Occupational Therapist
* Experience managing own caseload
* Experience working with therapy assistants and students
* Experience prescribing and ordering equipment
Skills
* Knowledge of professional guidelines and research
* Understanding of moving and handling guidelines
* Knowledge of clinical governance, risk assessment, safeguarding

Salary: £34,521 to £41,956 per year, including HCAS, pro rata.
