Staff Platform Infrastructure Engineer – Collibra, Manchester, United Kingdom
Join Collibra’s Platform Infrastructure Engineering team to help build the cloud foundation for all Collibra products. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Platform Infrastructure, you will contribute to evolving our multi-cloud environment, including Kubernetes, Istio, WAFs, and Golang automation to drive product innovation and reliability. Collibra maintains a remote-first, geographically diverse culture focused on continuous learning and improvement.
Overview
Join Collibra's Platform Infrastructure team to design, build, and operate scalable platform services that support product engineering teams across the organization.
Responsibilities
* Lead the technical design and architecture of platform services, with a focus on networking, service mesh (Istio), and service-to-service communication.
* Design, develop, and manage Kubernetes Operators in Golang, custom tooling, and our Istio service mesh to automate and enhance platform capabilities.
* Partner with product teams to co-design infrastructure solutions that improve velocity and reliability while efficiently serving developers.
* Engineer the platform's observability stack (metrics, logs, traces), define SLOs, and implement DevSecOps best practices, including WAF configuration and management.
* Mentor other engineers, champion technical excellence, and drive cloud cost optimization through automation.
Qualifications
* Production experience managing infrastructure on a major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
* Hands-on experience operating Kubernetes and service mesh technologies (preferably Istio).
* Strong understanding of cloud networking concepts (VPCs, routing, load balancing, WAFs, network policies).
* Proven experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and operational tooling in Golang.
* Experience supporting stateful applications like GraphDB and/or Kafka.
* Familiarity with cloud security principles (IAM, security groups).
* A bachelor’s degree or equivalent working experience.

Measures of Success
* Within your first month: integrate with the team, understand the architecture, and contribute to the platform.
* Within your third month: actively ship platform tooling that delivers measurable value to the engineering organization.
* Within your sixth month: become a go-to expert and steward for a key platform component, such as the service mesh, guiding its design and implementation.
