About the Role As our Financial Controller, you will be instrumental in shaping our financial operations and setting the company up for sustainable growth. You will: • Oversee and streamline accounting operations: Manage billing, accounts payable/receivable, credit control, and general ledger management with precision and efficiency. • Establish robust financial controls and processes: Design, implement, and continuously improve financial policies, procedures, and internal controls. • Provide strategic financial leadership: Partner with senior management to ensure financial best practices are embedded throughout the business. • Prepare and present financial statements and reports: Deliver accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports. • Ensure compliance and manage risk: Maintain compliance with statutory regulations and internal policies, and coordinate with external accountants and auditors as required. • Lead automation and system improvements: Drive the adoption of technology and automation to enhance financial efficiency and accuracy. • Mentor and guide: Support and advise our freelance bookkeeper and other finance staff, providing direction and oversight. • Support business planning: Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management to underpin business strategy. What We’re Looking For • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent): Essential requirement. • Significant experience in a senior finance role: Preferably within a commercial or manufacturing environment. • Proven track record of establishing and improving financial processes: Demonstrated ability to set up and refine accounting systems and controls. • Strong technical skills: Expert knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, budgeting, and tax compliance. • Leadership and strategic insight: Ability to provide clear direction, mentor staff, and support senior management with actionable financial guidance. • Attention to detail and problem-solving: High level of accuracy and a proactive approach to identifying and resolving financial issues. • Reliability and professionalism: A dependable, hands-on professional who takes ownership and ensures accountability. • Familiarity with accounting software: Experience with Sage, Excel, and ideally Insight123.
