Locum Consultant Cardiologist
Location: Aintree University Hospital, Liverpool
Salary: £109,725 - £145,478 per annum (12 months fixed term)
Responsibilities
* Inpatient care: Consultant leadership for ward rounds (including PTWR), ACCU/ward 8 cover during designated weeks, and inpatient referrals.
* Subspecialty activity: Sessions to be agreed as per subspecialty interest, in collaboration with the Clinical Director.
* Outpatients & access: General cardiology clinics; Advice & Guidance (A&G); Referral Assessment Service (RAS) triage; contribution to reducing waiting times and improving access.
* On‑call: Participation in the cardiology consultant on‑call rota in line with departmental arrangements; leadership of weekend ACCU and post‑take ward rounds as rostered.
* Education & supervision: Teaching of undergraduates and postgraduates; support for clinical and educational supervision as appropriate; contribution to departmental teaching rounds and journal clubs.
* Governance & quality: Participation in audit, QI, clinical governance, incident review, and mortality and morbidity reviews; maintaining high standards of documentation and consent.
* Service development: Contribute to ongoing service continuity and quality improvement during the service gap period.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* MRCP or equivalent.
* Full registration with the GMC.
* Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT (proposed CCT date within 6 months) or CESR or European Community Rights.
* Signed off for sub‑specialty interest.
Experience
* Wide experience in elective and emergency Cardiology in the UK to the standard expected of CCT.
* Evidence of practice at consultant or sub‑consultant, senior SpR level for a reasonable period.
* Expertise in a sub‑specialty field.
Other
* Research and publications relevant to the post.
