We are recruiting for a Junior IT Support Technician & PHP Software Developer role with a company that truly understands how to nurture future developers. This is not just an IT support job. About the Role
You will split your time between providing day-to-day IT support to staff and working with the internal development team on web-based tools and platforms. You will gain hands-on experience in PHP, Laravel, and modern software development practices, while also developing confidence in general IT troubleshooting, device setup, and systems support.
The company is small enough that you will make an impact, and experienced enough to support your learning with mentorship and meaningful projects.
What You Will Be Doing
IT Support (first-line):
Respond to IT queries via service desk, phone, or in person
Troubleshoot desktop, laptop, printer, and connectivity issues
Set up and configure new user devices and software
Assist with onboarding and offboarding of staff
Log and track support tasks and maintain asset record
Software Development (junior level):
Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal web applications
Write and test code using PHP and Laravel (or learn on the job if you have other coding experience)
Participate in code reviews, team meetings, and Agile workflows
Learn and apply best practices including MVC, version control (Git), and clean code principles
Document features, changes, and basic user guides
Who This Is For
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys the practical, problem-solving side of IT but has a clear ambition to move into software development. You might be a college or university graduate, a bootcamp learner, or someone self-taught. What matters is your genuine enthusiasm for coding, and a commitment to learning.
We are particularly interested in candidates with PHP experience, especially if youve used PHP and Laravel, but we are also open to other coding backgrounds (Python, JavaScript, Java, C#, etc.) if you are confident you can pick up PHP quickly.
Key Requirements
A qualification in IT, Computer Science, or similar (either completed or in progress)
Practical experience in a technical support or IT-related role
Proven interest in coding either through projects, bootcamps, or personal learning
Basic understanding of PHP and/or experience in another backend language
Familiarity with Windows environments and general troubleshooting
Exposure to version control systems (e.g., Git)
Strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude
Willingness to learn, take feedback, and grow over time
