I’m currently recruiting on behalf of a well-established, family-run construction business with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality refurbishment and roofing projects across London and the South East.
They’re now looking for an experienced Estimator to join their growing team. This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong background in roofing or external refurbishment, who enjoys working independently and wants to be part of a supportive, quality-driven environment.
Role Overview
As Estimator, you’ll be responsible for visiting sites, assessing project requirements, preparing accurate costs and tenders, and supporting the business in securing profitable work. The projects are focused on the refurbishment and re-roofing of existing, occupied buildings including flat roofs, pitched roofs, industrial cladding, and associated external works.
You’ll be working closely with clients and internal teams, and will play a vital role in delivering proposals that are technically sound, commercially viable, and in line with company objectives.
Key Responsibilities
* Visit and survey prospective sites, take measurements, photos, and prepare plans
* Take roof core samples and determine structure/build-up
* Record and respond to client requirements
* Prepare accurate costings, tenders, and supporting documentation
* Write clear, professional reports and specifications
* Submit proposals and tenders on time
* Support live contracts by pricing variations and additional works
* Maintain accurate records and update the internal database
* Follow up on tenders and log feedback
* Attend internal project handover meetings and brief the contracts team
* Maintain high standards in all client communication and represent the company professionally
What We’re Looking For
* Previous experience in an Estimator role, ideally within roofing or external refurbishment
* Strong knowledge of roofing systems and construction materials
* Excellent written English and attention to detail
* Highly organised with good time management and numeracy skills
* Confident using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
* Full, clean UK driving licence
* Based within reasonable distance of the South London area (Surbiton/Tolworth)

* £40,000 – £55,000 depending on experience
