Position Summary
Permanent post within the Biochemistry Department at The Royal Derby Hospital site offering opportunities for learning and development of existing skills.
Qualifications
* Science Foundation Degree level (Skill level 5) or equivalent level 5 qualification.
* Pathology Laboratory experience.
* Enthusiastic and self‑motivated with good communication, excellent IT skills, planning and organisational skills.
Responsibilities
* Participate in a 24/7 shift rota after suitable training.
* Work primarily at RDH, with occasional work at QHB site as required.
* Assist Biomedical Scientist staff with analyses of patient samples using manual and automated methods.
* Perform analyser maintenance, IQC, and package and send referred work to other hospitals.
* Prepare and process a variety of biological specimens (blood, urine, etc.) using automated, semi‑automated and manual techniques in accordance with protocols and SOPs, from receipt in the laboratory through the analytical process up to validation (excluding authorisation).
* Maintain clinical records relating to activities carried out, including inputting and/or investigating test results produced by other staff.
