Set at Erskine Mains House in Erskine Renfrewshire, Abbeycare Scotland provides a specialist residential abstinence based addictions recovery detoxification and rehabilitation service.

Job Purpose
As an Addictions Recovery Therapist, you will be responsible as part of the therapeutic team for the day-to-day delivery of a high-quality treatment programme primarily for clients.
The rehabilitation of clients with substance use and addictive behaviours issues is our primary purpose and this involves structured psychosocial interventions in a safe environment.
Knowledge and Skills
· Conducting effective clinical assessments and drafting evidence-based treatment plans and delivering a structured therapeutic programme through group-work sessions and one to one interventions.
· Core standards of counselling practice and code of conduct outlined by your registered professional body and Abbeycare Scotland.
· Excellent IT skills and computer literacy.
· Strong verbal client communication, organisational and time management skills.
· Abide by ethical obligations in addictions therapy, with a strong sense of professional integrity, national and recovery care standards and counselling best practice.
· Specialist mental health knowledge or skills relating to specific areas, e.g. physical, emotional, mental, physical and spiritual difficulties common to assisting those through recovery from addiction.
· Confidence to work on own initiative as well as part of a multi-disciplinary team
· Understanding of the importance of maintaining professional boundaries, upholding quality standards and performance monitoring.
· Understanding of safety and legal obligations, including patient rights, consent, safeguarding and harm reduction interventions
Experience
· 2 years of qualified experience of direct client work with at least one year's experience of working with addiction in a therapeutic setting (preferred)
· Experience of direct work with substance-use clients or those with addictive behaviours
· Experience in developing and delivering therapeutic support programmes
· Understanding and experience of the main therapeutic interventions utilised within the Abbeycare programme CBT / 12 step / DBT.
· Experience in providing direct client services particularly assessment, group-work and one to one counselling.
· Experience in underlying issues associated with substance use such as past trauma, loss, grief, shame, co-dependency, anxiety and depression.
· Experience in working in partnership with a range of statutory and non-statutory agencies.
Qualifications and Abilities
· A professional qualification in counselling.
· Professional counselling body membership
· A current driving licence.
· The ability to effectively promote the community recovery guidelines and maintain professional boundaries without threatening or antagonising clients.
· Demonstrate the ability to resolve conflict, build supportive relationships, be engaging, open, honest and possess personal resilience
