Overview
We’re looking for a Distribution Maintenance Technician to join Yorkshire Water. You will play a key role in ensuring a high quality water supply to our customers across North & West Yorkshire. The role involves planned interventions on the water network at a District Metered Area (DMA) level, cyclical pipe flushing, below ground maintenance, network asset inspections, and activities that reduce the potential risk of water contamination. This is a full-time permanent role with region-wide travel as required.
What you do matters
* Carry out planned flushing and sampling as per process and deploy data loggers
* Execute and record all planned flushing activity with appropriate flow/duration to achieve optimal performance and risk mitigation
* Amend schematic/timetable when issues arise (e.g., inoperable assets on the network)
* Capture data to calculate depth of sediment material removed per flush
* Undertake risk assessments for cyclical flushing activities
Responsibilities
* Work within the Distribution Maintenance Team to deliver a programme of planned interventions across the DMA level and flushing programme
* Support delivery of network legal instrument undertakings from the Drinking Water Inspectorate
* Contribute to reducing water quality contacts related to discolouration
What skills & qualifications are we looking for?
* Ability to work independently or in a team
* Strong Health and Safety awareness and compliance
* Pragmatic approach with ability to amend planned activities at short notice
You would benefit from:
* Knowledge of mechanisms of discolouration on the water network and water hygiene accreditation or Calm network training (training provided on entry)
* An understanding of the design and operation principles of potable water distribution network assets
* An understanding of the operation principles of water hydraulics
* Application of water hygiene principles at all times
Location and hours
Where I’d work: Opportunities available across North & West Yorkshire; willing to travel across the Yorkshire region as required
Work type: Permanent, full-time, 37 hours per week, Monday – Friday 08:00 - 16:00. Occasional out-of-hours/weekend work may be required.
