Engineering Teacher (Head of Department)
Full‑time, long‑term temporary and ongoing role starting September 2026. Responsibilities
* Lead and manage the Engineering department across KS3, KS4, and KS5
* Teach Engineering full time, delivering high‑quality lessons across all key stages
* Develop, implement, and review the Engineering curriculum and schemes of work
* Oversee assessment, progress tracking, and standards within the department
* Support and mentor staff within the department to maintain high‑quality teaching
* Ensure safe and effective use of workshops, equipment, and resources
* Maintain high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and achievement
* Contribute to whole‑school leadership and improvement priorities
* Work collaboratively with senior leaders to develop Engineering provision
* Uphold safeguarding expectations and prioritise pupil welfare
Qualifications and Experience
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
* Strong experience teaching Engineering across KS3 to KS5
* Previous leadership or departmental responsibility experience is highly desirable
* Confident managing curriculum, staff, and resources
* Strong subject knowledge and understanding of vocational and academic routes
* Effective classroom and behaviour management skills
* Excellent organisational, leadership, and communication abilities
* Proactive, reflective, and committed to continuous improvement
* Dedicated to safeguarding and promoting pupil well‑being
Your salary—dependent on experience—is paid weekly through PAYE.
