Job Description – Business Application Owner (IFS Finance & HR Applications)
Location: West Midlands, England, United Kingdom (Hybrid) 2 days on site.
We’re looking for a Business Application Owner to take ownership of the IT management of our key Finance and HR applications, with a particular focus on IFS Finance. This is a pivotal role where you’ll lead IT strategy, ensuring the business gains maximum value from its investment in core applications, while managing operations, integrations, upgrades, and service delivery.
Alongside system ownership, you’ll also lead a small support team, overseeing service management and driving their development, ensuring that our applications deliver reliability, efficiency, and measurable business value.
What you’ll be doing
* Lead the IT strategic solution for Finance and HR applications, aligning with wider business goals.
* Develop and manage the system roadmap including improvements, upgrades, and optimisations.
* Drive commercial optimisation of running and build costs, including vendor tenders for system replacement or upgrade.
* Oversee end-to-end lifecycle management of Finance and HR systems, from procurement and development to retirement.
* Engage with senior stakeholders to ensure systems deliver value across the organisation.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams (IT, business, trading, HR, finance) to define system requirements and objectives.
* Manage system integrations, modifications, and upgrades, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
* Monitor performance, identify potential issues, and ensure continuous improvement.
* Lead and develop the support team, working to agreed KPIs.
* Maintain system documentation, including architecture, configuration, and user guides.
* Partner with project teams to shape the support model for new applications.
* Implement and enforce security protocols in collaboration with the IT Information & Security Risk Manager.
Ideal Key Skills & Experience
* Degree in Computer Science or equivalent through experience.
* Proven experience as a System Owner, Application Owner, or similar role, ideally within Finance applications.
* Strong knowledge and practical experience with IFS Finance (IFS Applications / IFS Cloud).
* Experience with HR applications (HRIS, HCM, or IFS HR modules) would be highly advantageous.
* Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
* Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills – confident working at senior management and exec level.
* Solid business acumen and a track record of delivering high-quality customer service.
* Able to work under pressure, adapting to shifting priorities and deadlines.
* Strong presentation and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing across all levels.
