Engineering Manager (Design and NPI)
Staffordshire
£70,000 to £75,000
Onsite full time
We are working with a growing design-led manufacturing business looking to strengthen its product development capability through the appointment of an Engineering Manager.
This role sits at the centre of design and new product introduction, leading a small team of engineers while remaining close to the technical detail. The focus is on improving how products are designed, validated and brought into production, with a move towards a more structured, analysis led engineering approach.
You will take ownership of engineering delivery across the full lifecycle from concept through to release, while raising standards around design quality, robustness and decision making.
This is not a programme management or operational role. It is suited to someone who wants to lead engineering through design, improve how decisions are made, and embed a more rigorous approach to product development.
Key responsibilities
Lead design and development activity across new product introduction
Own DFMEA and drive a structured approach to design and validation
Chair design reviews and provide technical direction to the team
Apply strong engineering fundamentals to solve design challenges
Ensure designs are robust and manufacturable
Lead and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team
Work closely with manufacturing, quality and operations to support delivery
Drive continuous improvement in engineering standards and ways of working
What we are looking for
Strong background in mechanical or electro mechanical design
Experience leading an engineering team within a product introduction environment
Proven ownership of DFMEA and design validation activity
Ability to operate at first principles level and make sound technical decisions
Experience delivering products from concept through to manufacture
Comfortable in a hands on environment where you are expected to lead from the front
