This role will be responsible for the contractual Facilities Management delivery of our Newbury campus services across all service lines. You will need to drive performance and manage stakeholder relationships as well as overseeing events and key change programmes. You will need to ensure that all contracted services meet legal, statutory and contractual specifications reporting and ensuring the completion of any Mandatory or statutory facilities management tasks. By creating consistency and foster a strong team ethic across Security, Cleaning, Reception, Admin, Health and Safety and engineering will integrate the team and improve the culture of the site ensuring that all teams are engaged. You will be fostering and maintaining a safe environment for our colleagues and our customers while implementing a culture of collaboration, communication and high performance.
Responsibilities
* Ensure that the site colleagues are carrying out their duties effectively and efficiently, in accordance with Company Policies and Procedures.
* Manage a team of direct reports on site and provide leadership to all other service lines, their leaders and managers where you will be accountable for their performance at the campus.
* Deal with day-to-day staff management issues i.e. recruitment, discipline and development of the site-based staff as well as carrying out assessments/appraisals, capability, and grievance issues.
* Build a strong relationship with the client, driving regular engagement sessions and meetings and reporting on performance monthly.
* Deliver to the Mitie property strategy and the client's ambition to deliver “Best Place to Work”.
* To deliver the agreed services within budget and to the standard required.
* Carry out regular audits in compliance and health and safety to ensure the contract is performing in line with established KPIs, SLAs, and legislative obligations.
* Manage reactive activity, incidents and events.
* Identify and manage potential negative and positive risks and opportunities, highlighting and reporting them to ensure any mitigations are in place before any potential risk is realised. Contributing to the Risk Registers of the site and account.
* Join the on-call rota to manage any out of hours incidents across the UK Estate.
* Monitor and influence the contract payment mechanism to ensure minimum deductions are incurred for the KPIs.
* Take ownership of a health and safety culture to be embedded on site and demonstrated by all Newbury team members.
* Full compliance with all relevant legislation associated with the FM services, ensuring contractors submit method statements, risk assessments, COSHH, provide PPE and report all accidents. Full compliance with all H&S legislation for both MITIE and the client.
* Work with the energy team to hit targets and support the client's net zero strategy.
* Develop, control, and manage on-site contract records in accordance with MITIE's CAFM tools.
* Undertake any other related duties within the job holder's capability, according to business needs.
* Collaborate with / and deputise the Client Services Manager when required.
Qualifications & Experience
* Industry Expertise in Facilities Management with relevant qualifications or experience; commitment to ongoing professional development.
* Health & Safety Champion for the campus with an IOSH qualification or demonstrable Health & Safety experience.
* Leadership & Team Management experience; ability to motivate and manage site teams and foster collaboration and effective communication.
* Proven success in Facilities Management within a complex environment; contractual compliance and service efficiency.
* Proven Stakeholder Engagement with strong client/management relationships; ability to challenge when necessary.
* Interpersonal skills: strong relationship-building, excellent communication, influencing, and negotiation abilities.
* Strategic thinking with problem-solving mindset; ability to drive improvement and adapt with a team-oriented, performance-driven approach and commercial awareness.
* Proficiency with digital tools: Microsoft Office, CAFM systems, and willingness to engage with new technologies.
* Presentational skills: able to run regular team and client meetings and present information and data to varied audiences.
* SC clearance and enhanced DBS as per MITIE policy; willingness to undertake first aid training if not already attained.
