Staffordshire County Council – This role sits within our busy Business and Executive Support team where you will play a key role in ensuring a consistent high‑level of business support across the organisation. We are a team of 32 based across East Staffordshire and support the Children and Families Service in creating an environment where families can stay together safely and live well in their communities.
This is a part‑time, fixed‑term (12 months) position based in Uttoxeter.
Hours of work
Tuesday and Thursday 9:00 am–5:00 pm (1 hour lunch). Wednesday 9:00 am–1:30 pm.
Main Responsibilities
* Provide administrative support to managers across a range of departments.
* Attend and support meetings, including child protection conferences, by circulating agendas and papers, scheduling and diary management, and taking and distributing notes.
* Accurately input and maintain confidential information to keep children’s, families’, and staff system records up to date.
* Carry out financial transactions using the council’s finance systems, including cash handling, placing orders for services/equipment, and goods receipting in accordance with financial regulations.
* Monitor and maintain financial records.
The Ideal Candidate
* GCSE English and Maths grade C/4 or equivalent and Level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent experience.
* Ability to interpret, accurately input, and retrieve data.
* Experience providing administrative support at meetings, including note‑taking.
* Good written and oral communication skills at all levels; liaising with professionals and members of the public.
* Sensitive listening skills and ability to record meeting outcomes accurately.
* Flexible approach and able to respond positively to changes in workload on short notice.
* Good numerical skills with attention to detail.
* Good time‑management and organisational skills, able to work under pressure to meet deadlines and on own initiative.
