We are looking for an enthusiastic, highly motivated and forward thinking individual to undertake the role of Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) Coordinator working as part of the Corporate Cancer team at Lancashire Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The post holder will be an integral part of the MDT team, preparing all documentation for all cancer patients being presented at an MDT which in turn helps to support the Trust in achieving and sustaining cancer targets. Excellent organisational skills will be required to ensure that the patients are tracked and progress monitored along their pathway using data and tracking systems.

Main duties of the job

You will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment where tracking patients virtually through their cancer pathway is an essential part of the role, from referral through to investigations, diagnosis and treatment.

You will be responsible for the co-ordination and organisation of the multi-disciplinary team meetings, using Microsoft Teams. You will attend these meetings obtaining and recording relevant information.

You will collect, record and report cancer information as required in order to meet both national and local requirements playing an integral part in the monitoring and delivery of cancer waiting times standards and robust submission of complex data to national clinical audit and datasets.

The position provides the opportunity to work within a supportive and welcoming team and to further develop your knowledge and skills. You will enjoy working closely with the clinicians, clinical nurse specialists, secretaries and patient access teams and will be able to use your initiative in order to ensure the smooth and effective running of MDT meetings.

You will be expected to provide cover for your colleagues. Attention to detail, and good organisational and communication skills are key components to the role.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

* Support and implement the delivery of robust systems for
identifying, tracking and monitoring of treatment times for cancer
patients in order to ensure that the Trust is able to comply with cancer standards
* Provide full support for the multi -disciplinary team meeting.
* Develop a good working knowledge of anatomy, terminology,
treatments, drugs & medication, pathology and clinical coding
relating to cancer.
* Collate and upload information of the highest quality and validity
to supporting databases linked to patient pathways
* Support the MDT in the upkeep of the portfolios of evidence for the
Cancer Quality Surveillance Process

Person specification

Qualification & Education

* Educated to A level or relevant experience
* IT Qualification or related experience
* RSA 3/equivalent typing speeds
* Educated to degree level in a scientific subject or relevant experience

Knowledge & Experience

* Clerical / Administrative experience
* Developed understanding of cancer service organisations
* Experience in collating, analysing and interpreting clinical datasets
* Understanding of data management processes including implementing quality assurance processes
* Familiar with medical terminology including anatomy and oncology
* Awareness of the NHS Cancer Strategy, national agenda and local issues
* Awareness of the cancer pathways
* Experience of video conferencing
* Acute Trust NHS clerical / administrative experience
* Awareness of the Peer Review/Quality Surveillance Process
