Job Description Purpose of the role
To generate revenue and promote the bank's diverse product and service offerings to various customer segments.
Accountabilities
* Identify potential customers and analyse their needs, preferences, and market trends.
* Create detailed profiles for target customer segments, outlining demographics, financial habits, and pain points to tailor sales approaches.
* Manage relationships with potential and existing customers through high‑quality support, responding to queries, resolving issues, and building trust.
* Understand and communicate the features, benefits, risks, and compliance requirements of banking products and services.
* Develop compelling sales pitches and proposals that showcase the bank’s value proposition and negotiate terms that benefit both client and bank.
* Collect and analyse customer feedback to support product development and sales strategy, and develop reports for stakeholders.
* Monitor lead conversion rates, customer acquisition costs, and other metrics to assess sales performance and identify improvement areas.
Vice President Expectations
Lead strategy, drive requirements, and make recommendations for change. Plan resources, budgets, and policies; manage processes; deliver continuous improvements; and ensure policy compliance. For team leaders: define roles and responsibilities, plan departmental needs, coach staff, and influence cross‑functional decision‑making. For individual contributors: act as a subject‑matter expert, guide technical direction, and train less experienced specialists.
Role Overview
Specialist Sales Consultant within Barclaycard Payments on a 12‑month secondment/FTC. Responsible for selling Acceptance solutions (Gateway, Acquiring, Fraud) to Barclays customers with a turnover exceeding £6.5Mp.a., and working closely with product owners to provide client feedback and product improvement ideas. Expected to manage a pipeline of opportunities, recruit new customers, and lead acceptance strategy activities across Sales, Professional Services, Product and Marketing.
Required Experience and Skills
* Experience in sales, sales consulting, pre‑sales, or analytical roles.
* Experience with payment gateways and/or fraud solutions.
* Working knowledge of global payment schemes, industry dynamics, interchange drivers, and competitor solutions.
* Analytical mindset, comfortable with both quantitative and qualitative data.
* Ability to synthesise data into clear insights and actionable recommendations.
* Proven track record of progressing commercial opportunities and closing deals at strategic level.
* Strong presentation and communication skills.
Desirable Skills
* Knowledge of Barclays product solutions.
* Experience in the B2B Financial Services sector.
* Experience in data analytics or consulting roles.
* Understanding of consumer spend behaviours and how they support client growth strategies.
* Awareness of current economic landscape changes in consumer spending.
Work Location and Duration
Locations: Northampton, London, Birmingham, or Glasgow. 12‑month secondment/FTC.
