DSL are looking to expand our Projects/Contracts Team with the appointment of a Mechanical Estimator. This role will involve preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for mechanical construction projects using analysis of project plans, specifications and other documentation along with site visits if necessary.
Your Role
* Review project plans, analyse plan drawings, schematics, specifications and other documentation to prepare accurate cost estimates.
* Calculate costs, determine the quantity and cost of materials, equipment and labour required for the project.
* Prepare and submit detailed estimates and bids for projects.
* Prepare and submit PQQ and ITT documentation.
* Coordinate with engineers, contractors, manufacturers and clients to understand project scope and requirements.
* Identify potential financial or operational risks and provide strategies to mitigate them.
* Maintain detailed records of all estimation documentation and update them to reflect current conditions.
* Negotiate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure the best prices on materials and equipment.
* Stay updated with the latest techniques, materials and costs in the industry to ensure the most accurate estimates.
Your Skills
* Proven experience as an estimator or in a similar role (minimum 2 years)
* Strong understanding of mechanical systems and engineering principles
* Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
* Proficient in using CRM software
* Relevant higher‑level qualification or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management or related field
* Attention to detail and organisational skills
* Ability to work to tight deadlines and deliver on time
* Experience or qualification in the use of CAD preferred
* Experience of using SimPro beneficial
Your Hours
Working 5 days a week, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am till 5:30 pm.
