An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented journalist to step into a key news desk role at the Bucks Free Press, one of Newsquest’s leading weekly titles. This is an ideal next step for a senior reporter ready to progress, or an ambitious journalist looking to build the skills needed to become an editor. We are looking for a news editor or first‑class reporter to help shape the agenda of a long‑established and respected title with a growing digital audience. Working alongside the Regional Editor, you will play a central role in leading the newsroom day‑to‑day – driving coverage, supporting reporters and ensuring we deliver the best possible journalism across all platforms. You’ll be joining a strong, supportive team and following in the footsteps of our departing Audience and Content Editor, who has been promoted to the Oxford Mail.

* Creative, full of ideas and digitally aware
* Confident working across multiple platforms and formats

You’ll also have a strong understanding of media law and be comfortable dealing with members of the public.

You will:

* Inspire and motivate a team
* Embrace the chance to have fun in your job and with your colleagues
* Drive a strong and engaging news agenda
* Understand how audiences find and consume content
* Know what makes a story – and how to tell it effectively across platforms

The deadline for applications is June 21st.
We will be reviewing applications as they come in, so early applications are encouraged.
