This role would be suitable for Level 4 DevOps Apprenticeship graduates, university graduates with a Computer Science related Degree or someone with relevant experience.

As a DevOps Engineer, you will be part of a multi-functional agile delivery team, working alongside engineers, researchers, and testers.
Your responsibilities include designing, developing, and maintaining infrastructure-as-code, configuration-as-code, and managing continuous integration and deployment for DWP services.

Day-to-day you will:
1. Translate business requirements into code.
2. Contribute to automated testing to ensure quality.
3. Identify issues to ensure services are scalable, resilient, and highly available.
4. Address issues that hinder software delivery activities.
5. Write simple, flexible deployment code.
6. Optimize current development processes.
7. Engage in community discussions to promote best practices and automation culture.
What skills, knowledge, and experience will you need?
* Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle, version control, and issue management.
* Knowledge of Cloud infrastructure (AWS or Azure), containerization, and Infrastructure as Code.
* Experience with Continuous Integration/Delivery, automated build, testing, and deployment.
* Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
* Decision-making confidence, proactive attitude, and ownership.
You can choose to work from our digital hubs in Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, or Sheffield.
We support flexible working with tools and tech for remote work and a hybrid model requiring about 40% office presence.
