HMCTS is an agency of the Ministry of Justice and is responsible for the administration of criminal, civil and family courts and tribunals in England and Wales. Our roles support our service users and colleagues within HMCTS, where people and businesses access potentially life‑changing justice.
Your role
Leading your team, you’ll support your Operations Manager(s) to meet operational needs, deliver performance objectives and provide a consistent and customer‑focused service.
* Maintain positive and effective working relationships with the judiciary, supporting agencies and user groups, and strive for continuous improvement to improve operational efficiency.
* Manage complaints and complete corrective actions within set timescales in a process and compliance driven environment.
* Ensure health and safety, IT/workstation compliance and identify and escalte any court facilities issues.
Requirements
* Hands‑on problem solver with the ability to engage with people at all levels and deliver excellent service through effectively leading a team.
* Confident communicator who can effectively work and engage with all court users, lead your team and set local priorities and objectives aligned to national/regional strategies and plans.
* Strong focus on employee engagement, morale and motivation to deliver a highly effective performance.
* Ability to give direction and close support to Team Leaders to develop their team plans as part of the overall business plan for the region.
* Capability to meet targets, ensure the team is resourced and trained effectively to meet your allocated budget, and identify and implement solutions to local problems.
Working conditions
* Operational roles are customer‑facing and require office‑based delivery of HMCTS services to the public.
* Non‑contractual hybrid working may be available; arrangements will be determined by the business and only when delivering the service from home can be done effectively.
* Standard full‑time working hours are 37 hours per week.
* HMCTS welcomes part‑time, flexible and job‑sharing working patterns where they meet the demands of the role and business needs; a minimum of 30 hours per week is required. A non‑working day on a Monday is not accommodated.
* Occasional travel to National Services sites may be required.
* New recruits to the Civil Service joining MoJ are expected to join at the band minimum.

* This role is not eligible for new Skilled Worker visas in accordance with the current immigration rules.
