Overview
Electrician (FM) on-site role at HMP Berwyn, Wrexham Industrial Estate, Bridge Rd N, Wrexham LL13 9QE. Standard hours are 39 hours per week: Thursday 07:30 – 16:30, Friday 07:30 – 15:30. 1 in 4 weekends which you will receive 2 rest days the week after.
The Electrician plays an important part in ensuring planned and reactive maintenance work within the prisons is carried out in a safe, compliant and timely manner. We are supporting His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) by providing safe, clean and efficient prisons at 60 secure premises across England and Wales.
Responsibilities
* Ensuring Health & Safety standards are met across the contract
* Testing and inspecting electrical installations in line with current IEE wiring regulations
* Responding promptly to breakdowns, ensuring all work is carried out safely and efficiently
* Performing planned and preventative electrical maintenance and diagnosing/replacing failed domestic electrical components
* Actively fault finding and problem solving on domestic electrical systems
* Undertaking electrical installation activities according to provided designs and IET Wiring Regulations
* Monitoring and ordering critical spares for all electrical services, and oversee the BMS System
* Supporting zero carbon initiatives, contributing to sustainability goals, and handling additional tasks as directed by your line manager
What You Will Bring
* Appropriate technical qualification (e.g., City & Guilds 2365 parts 1-3, BTEC, NVQ level 3 or above)
* BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations, specifically 18th Edition
* Knowledge and experience of Electrical Systems and Electricity at Work Regulations
* Experience of electrical maintenance activities, general distribution, installation, and testing
* Ability to work alone and use initiative
* Capable of working at heights
Prison Security Clearance will be required (Amey will support you through this process).
